E-Band (70/80 GHz) is "light licensed" in most jurisdictions across Asia Pacific — meaning the registration process is far simpler and cheaper than traditional microwave licensing. A basic link registration is typically required rather than a full spectrum assignment. MCVPL can advise on the regulatory process for your specific country. Key regulators include ACMA (Australia), RSM (New Zealand), IMDA (Singapore), MCMC (Malaysia), TRBSL (Solomon Islands), NICTA (Papua New Guinea), and Communications Fiji Limited.
Unlicensed spectrum (like 60 GHz V-Band) can be used by anyone without registration — but this means potential interference from other users. Light-licensed E-Band requires a simple link registration, which gives you interference protection and a degree of exclusivity on your link path, without the cost or complexity of full spectrum licensing. For ISP backhaul, light-licensed E-Band is almost always the better choice.
Rain fade is a real consideration in tropical environments like PNG, Fiji, and Vanuatu. E-Band links are more susceptible to heavy rain attenuation than lower-frequency microwave. However, with proper link budgeting — shorter link distances, larger antennas, and appropriate fade margins — reliable links are absolutely achievable. MCVPL has extensive experience designing links in high-rainfall environments and will ensure your system is properly engineered for local conditions.
In typical conditions, Siklu EtherHaul E-Band links can reliably operate over distances of 1–10 km depending on the model, antenna size, and required availability. In drier climates with proper engineering, links of up to 15+ km are achievable. For longer distances, traditional microwave may be combined with E-Band in a hybrid architecture. We'll model the link budget for your specific path and climate as part of our design service.
Siklu outdoor units (ODUs) are rated to IEC/EN 60529 IP67 standards and are designed for harsh outdoor environments. Mounting hardware selection and tower/pole engineering are critical for cyclone-prone areas. MCVPL will advise on appropriate mounting solutions and structural considerations for your location. We've supplied equipment to operators in Vanuatu and Fiji where cyclone resilience is a key design factor.
Shipping times vary by destination. To major Asia Pacific hubs (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Jakarta) express air freight typically takes 2–4 business days from Australia. Pacific Island destinations (Suva, Port Moresby, Port Vila, Honiara) typically take 3–7 business days by air. Sea freight is available for larger orders. MCVPL has established freight relationships across the region and can advise on the best option for your timeline and order size.
Yes — we have experience preparing the customs documentation required for telecommunications equipment imports across Asia Pacific. This includes commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and technical specifications that customs authorities typically require. We can advise on import duties and help ensure your shipment clears customs without unnecessary delays.
There are no strict minimum order quantities. We're happy to supply single links or small quantities of equipment. Pricing is naturally better on larger orders, but we understand the reality of procurement budgets and work with operators of all sizes.
Yes. MCVPL provides ongoing technical support for equipment we supply, and we have direct access to our vendors' technical support teams for escalated issues. We can assist with initial configuration guidance, link alignment support, and troubleshooting.
